The Tradeco Group was launched in 1980 by the energy giant Ashland Oil and international bankers as a general trading company.  But it rather quickly broadened its base to specialize in both aviation and technology. The last ten years saw record-breaking aviation sales, particularly in China, and with the Group’s entry into information technology research and development. 

We continue moving forward in IT development and, once again, in large R&D projects. Our unique business networking software, BoardWalk, began our foray into serious IT development with an investment by Reuters’ Greenhouse Fund in mid-2000 just as most IT start-ups were being cancelled or postponed. Having secured strong US and European patents on the BoardWalk software, we moved on to the development of new data search and retrieval systems in the areas of both telecoms and national security. Our latest system, designed for governments, won the Frost & Sullivan Innovation Award for Europe for 2006 and led us to be invited to the 2007 European Commission meetings on Data Retention. With the recent expansion of Internet marketing, we have also expanded our technology area to take advantage of new e-Commerce opportunities and, in 2007,  produced, for one client, a fully automated on-line business, with another one under way.

Nevertheless Tradeco has retained its expertise for general trading, business consulting and development projects, as requested by global clients.  Over many years Tradeco has worked on an increasingly international scale, from its headquarters in Europe to China (Hong Kong and Beijing), from the USA to Australia, as well as in Africa and the Middle East, where Tradeco’s principals have decades of expertise. In August 2005, Tradeco Group officially opened in Dubai, the newest global hub and a booming centre for financial and property investments.

Tradeco is also involved with several entrepreneurs who have access to deals and finance, in line with its venture over the years in investment banking and start-ups.

The Group maintains, renews, and expands its global presence to where we are best able to monitor the political, economic, technological, and energy developments that impact on international markets and currencies. And related to the expansion of China and African relations, our Hong Kong office initiated new development projects in 2007, focusing on those areas.
